About the Conference
The “Transformative Learning in Action” conference brings together educators, researchers, and school leaders to explore innovative practices that enhance knowledge and professionalism in teaching. This event offers a space for sharing strategies, reflecting on classroom practices, and building networks for long-term growth.
Under the theme “Transformative Learning in Action,” the conference provides a platform for sharing innovative teaching strategies, engaging in critical dialogue, and advancing professional learning in Nepal’s education system.
Taking place across all seven provinces of Nepal, this one-day event will feature:

Key Note Speakers
Prof. Prakash Chandra Bhattarai, PhD
Associate Dean, KUSOED
Prakash C Bhattarai, PhD. is a Professor and the Associate Dean- Research Management and Development at Kathmandu University - School of Education, Hattiban, Lalitpur, Nepal. He is the 2015 Paul Begley Award winner for his doctoral thesis on ethical leadership. He is also the Highly Commended Award winner of the 2015 Emerald/EFMD Outstanding Doctoral Research Awards, selected by the Journal of Educational Administration (JEA). He teaches the courses: Theory and Practices in Education and Development, Monitoring and Evaluation, Research Methods etc, and carries out researches in the diverse area of education, and social science. He has experience working as a project evaluator, researcher, and trainer in several national and international organizations. He is an active member of non-profit and educational forums in Nepal. He has been working as the secretary of the Comparative Education Society of Nepal (CESON). He has keen interests in education, learning, leadership, anti-corruption, integrity, ethics, ethical inclusion, educational and societal reform, comparative education, TVET, and mixed-methods research. He is engaged in writing and carrying out research in these areas.
Bio of Workshop Facilitators
Sesha Kanta Pangeni, PhD
Associate Professor, KUSOED
Title of workshop: Transformative Leadership
Shesha Kanta Pangeni, PhD is an Associate Professor at Kathmandu University School of Education under the Department of Educational Leadership. He also had additional roles as IT/Exam coordinator at the School during 2020 July-2021 July. He has been professionally involved in the field of education for more than two decades in Nepal. He also worked as a guest researcher at Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet), Oslo, Norway for a year during his PhD exchange visit. His Ph.D. was funded by The Norwegian Program for Capacity Development in Higher Education and Research for Development (NORHED) and the PhD project was related to web technology in higher education. Areas of his research interests are Educational Leadership, Mathematics Education, Web Technologies in Higher Education, Online and Distance Learning, and ICT in Education. He has presented many international conference papers in Asia, Europe, and America. His past journal articles and conference papers were focused on ICT in Education, Online and Distance Education, Digital Leadership, Online Learning Culture, and e-Research Methods. He has good experience of training facilitation on LMS use. A number of professionals from reputed organizations such as TU, KU, NOU, MPU, CTEVT, TITI, different colleges and schools have been trained by Dr. Pangeni for LMS use.
Samiksha Hada
Teacher Educator, KUSOED
Title of the Workshop: AI in Education
Samiksha Hada is a faculty at Kathmandu University School of Education since 2023. She is serving as a Teacher Educator and handling various Digital and Innovation programs under CPEC. Ms. Hada is working with school teachers in integrating ICT and AI in their teaching and learning practices and empowering them in their professional development.
D.R. Simkhada
Visiting Faculty, KUSOED
Title of the workshop: Innovative Pedagogy
D. R. Simkhada is an educator and scholar with extensive experience in mathematics education. He currently serves as a Visiting Faculty at Kathmandu University School of Education (KUSOED) and works as an Author and Editor at Readmore Publishers and Distributors. Mr. Simkhada holds two Master’s degrees in Mathematics Education; one from James Madison University (JMU), USA, and another from Kathmandu University (KU), Nepal. He also holds Master's degrees in Economics and Population Studies from Tribhuvan University, Nepal.
A dedicated academic, Mr. Simkhada is currently pursuing a PhD in Measurement and Assessment in Mathematics Education at JMU, USA. His contributions to the field include the authorship and editorial work of over 50 textbooks and reference books, published by both private publishers and the Curriculum Development Centre (CDC), Nepal. His expertise and commitment to advancing education make him a valued facilitator in workshops on teaching, learning, and assessment in mathematics.
Mahendra Thapa, PhD
Visiting Faculty, KUSOED
Title of the workshop: Teachers’ and Students’ well being
With specialized degree in training and development, Mahendra Thapa has been actively engaged in the professional development of teachers, with a strong focus on enhancing communication skills, effective classroom management, and educator wellbeing. With a passion for empowering educators, Mahendra combines his scientific background with practical training expertise to create impactful learning experiences that support both personal and professional growth in the education sector.
Sarita Khadka
Lecturer, KUSOED
Title of the workshop: Understanding and support the diverse learning
Ms. Sarita Khadka serves as a committed faculty member at the Department of Inclusive Education, ECD, and Professional Studies at Kathmandu University School of Education. She holds a master’s degree in Sustainable Development, with her research centering on Education for Sustainable Development. In addition, she has earned an M.Phil. in STEAM Education, with a particular emphasis on inclusive practices for children with autism. Ms. Khadka plays a key role in the development of local curricula, focusing on strategies that address the needs of diverse learners. She is also an expert advisor and teacher educator at Continuing and Professional Education Center (CPEC), where she contributes to needs assessments, training manual preparation, and in-house research initiatives. Her dedication to fostering inclusive and sustainable learning environments positions her as a respected professional in the field of education.
