About the Conference
The “Transformative Learning in Action” conference brings together educators, researchers, and school leaders to explore innovative practices that enhance knowledge and professionalism in teaching. This one day event offers a space for sharing strategies, reflecting on classroom practices, and building networks for long-term growth.
Under the main theme “Transformative Learning in Action” the conference provides a platform for sharing innovative teaching strategies, engaging in critical dialogue, and advancing professional learning in Nepal’s education system. All sessions will focus on promoting reflective and transformative educational practices in schools and beyond.
Taking place across all seven provinces of Nepal, this event will feature:

Keynote Speakers
Prof. Bal Chandra Luitel, PhD
Dean, Kathmandu University School of Education
Prof. Luitel completed M.Ed. (1997) from TU and Postgraduate Diploma (2002), an MSc (2003), and PhD in Mathematics Education (2009) from Curtin University.
His service at KU started in 1998 initially as Lecturer, Assistant Professor in 2005, Associate Professor in 2012, and Professor in 2018. Administratively he has served as the Coordinator of Research and Publication, Coordinator of Master Programs, and Associate Dean. In addition to this, he has worked as a Senate Member (Teacher Representative) for about three years. Currently, he is the Dean of the School of Education.

Ranjana Dhakal
Title of the workshop: Students and Teachers Wellbeing
She is a dedicated psychosocial counselor with over 10 years of experience working in mental health, trauma recovery and community empowerment. Currently associated with Jigyasha Foundation, she provides individual and group counseling, particularly for adult and juvenile survivors and offenders of sexual and gender-based violence. She is extensively trained in Psychological First Aid, substance abuse prevention and response, suicide prevention strategies and trauma-informed psychosocial care. Ms. Dhakal has designed and facilitated numerous psycho education sessions, classroom-based support programs for vulnerable children and women’s empowerment groups in high-risk communities. Her work also includes creative therapeutic interventions like Common Threads, which promote healing through storytelling and self-expression. Passionate about building resilient communities, she integrates empathy, cultural sensitivity and evidence-based practices in all aspects of her counseling work.
Aashisha Thapa
Title of the Workshop: Inclusive Education and Differentiated Instruction
She is a highly experienced psychologist and Early Childhood Development (ECD) consultant with over 19 years of expertise in special needs education, management, and development. She is a dedicated advocate for inclusive education, serving as a faculty member at Kathmandu University School of Education (KUSOED) and as the Founder and Director of Aakar Foundation, an organization focused on the holistic development of children with special and additional needs, alongside parent and teacher training. Additionally, she is a Founding Member of TAALI Education and Research Pvt.Ltd. contributing to groundbreaking educational research and practices. With a portfolio of over 500 national and international trainings, Ms. Thapa has designed and facilitated numerous seminars and webinars on Early Childhood Education, Diverse Learners, Adaptive Teaching Practices, and Behavior Management, consistently promoting child-centered and equitable learning environments in Nepal.
Dhanapati Subedi, PhD

Title of the workshop: Transformative Leadership
Dr. Subedi is a Professor at the School of Education. He has been teaching in Kathmandu University for 18 years. His areas of expertise are entrepreneurial leadership, organizational behavior, human resource management, instructional leadership, innovative pedagogy, programs and projects designing in schools, school community partnership and action research for school improvement. He has published many articles and book chapters in national and international journals.
Binod Prasad Panta, PhD
Assistant Professor, KUSOED
Title of the workshop: Innovative Pedagogy
Binod Prasad Pant, PhD is an Assistant Professor and Acting Head of the Department of STEAM Education at Kathmandu University School of Education, Nepal. He earned M Ed and MPhil in Mathematics Education and PhD in STEAM Education from Kathmandu University. He served as a visiting fellow at the University of Technology (UTS) Sydney after he received the Australian Award in 2017/18. Binod has been working with a number of Nepali teachers and teacher educators who examine their lived experiences as students, teachers and teacher educators. He speaks and writes about pedagogical innovations, uses of technology in education, child-friendly classroom, authentic assessment, etc.
Samiksha Hada
Teacher Educator, KUSOED
Title of the Workshop: AI in Education
Samiksha Hada is a faculty at Kathmandu University School of Education since 2023. She is serving as a Teacher Educator and handling various Digital and Innovation programs under CPEC. Ms. Hada is working with school teachers in integrating ICT and AI in their teaching and learning practices and empowering them in their professional development.
